Jason's Birth 11/3/11

So Jason’s due date was October 27th, 2011. Thinking that I was going to be early I started my leave of absence at work on the 14th of October.  I went into my doctor’s appointment about 3 weeks before my due date and was 2 centimeters dilated and 50 % effaced. So I really thought I was going to be early, but my next appointment I went in I only went up 1 centimeter and a little more effaced. The next week on my due date, he decided that he was just going to induce me sometime within the next week after he did a stress test to make sure everything was alright with Jason since I was now going to be late.  After the stress test (Monday, October 31) and said that he would call me by the end of the day to decide when he was going to induce me. So I anxiously waited all day for him to call back. He finally did and told me we either could go in Wednesday, November 2 or Saturday morning on the 5th. Of course we decided the soonest day possible because we were very anxious to meet our little baby boy.  They had said that they were going to do cytotec, where it would help start labor.

So my parents ended up coming over from Louisiana on November 2nd. We went to Jason’s Deli to eat then went over to Landon’s parents until about 830 pm to go to the hospital. I was not nervous until we were leaving the house.  When we got there they hooked me up to a monitor and told me that I was already contracting.  I was still only at a 3 ½ and 65% so they decided not to do cytotec because you cannot stop that once they start.  So they did my IV and then around 11 pm they decided to put me on 2 out of 20 on the Pitocin for the night until the morning. (The doctor obviously did not want to come in that night). So needless to say it was a very long night, for both Landon and I.  I ended up having to go to the bathroom like every 30 minutes it was awful.
My parents and Landon's parents both left to go to bed since I was not planning on having the baby that night.
In the morning, everyone came back around 7ish and I got a new nurse named Rebecca, who was awesome. She asked if some nursing students could come and observe, who were also great, they held my legs the whole time when I was pushing.  Finally at about 9:30 the doctor came in checked me and I was at a 6 so he decided to break my water.

About an hour later, they came back in and I was ready to push.

Jason was turned faced up and the doctor was unable to turn him. After about 30 minutes of pushing the doctor left and had the nurse just there with me. At that point, I realized I might be pushing for awhile. The nurse tried tug of war with a sheet and sitting on the end of the bed and all different types of positions. The doctor came back a little later and kept telling me that we were going to have the baby before lunch. Everyone in there kept saying oh your almost there your almost there after  two hours of pushing I did not believe them at all but continued to push when I was supposed to. By the end it seemed like everyone was in my room watching.  After over 2 in half hours of pushing with a lot of "ooo you are almost there" and a million “one more push”, at 1:42 pm on November 3, 2011, Jason Daniel Ward was finally here at 8lbs 13 ounces and 20.5 inches.

Everyone that had come was able to hold him.
His blood sugar was not stable so they had to take him and try to get it stable. For the next day they had to continually check his blood sugar before each feeding, they said it was very normal for bigger babies. Luckily, he was just fine.

Later that night Papa came by to see Jason.
